Kendrick Lamar left GNX on Friday morning, leaving fans around the world in shock and awe. Overall, this shouldn’t happen. Maybe we won’t receive Kendrick’s new album until a few days before the Super Bowl. However, we turned out to be wrong. Lamar surprised his fans with a 12-track album, which some thought might be a “real” pre-release mixtape, whatever that means.
Regardless, this project is awesome and has a lot of sensational songs. From west coast rock to melodic R&B cuts, Kendrick gives us it all here. However, one song that stuck with many fans was “Reincarnation.” The track features 2Pac’s song “Made N*****” from the Gang Below soundtrack. Additionally, it features Kendrick’s rap beats that will instantly remind you of Pac. It’s a remarkable tribute to Kendrick’s iconic storytelling. Throughout the song, we even hear Kendrick rap from multiple angles, with reincarnation as the central thread.
While fans are still trying to decipher which artist he’s talking about, there’s no doubt that this is one of his best songs. Kendrick is 15 years into his career and he’s still finding ways to innovate. Overall, this album is unmistakably West Coast and deserves to be appreciated. He just released a video for “Squabble Up,” and he’s emphasizing the West Coast vibe again. One can only imagine his upcoming Super Bowl halftime performance.
Kendrick Lamar interprets “reincarnation” from different angles
My life now is Kendrick Lamar
Rapper’s lyrics will leave you in awe
The only factor I respect is raising the bar
My intuition sends material directly to the chart
