Raekwon and Ol’ Dirty Bastard are two of the most popular and iconic members of the Wu-Tang Clan. Both rappers released classic debuts in 1995. After Ol’ Dirty Bastard’s tragic death in 2004 shocked the Wu-Tang Clan to its core, Raekwon paid tribute to the “Shimmy Shimmy Ya” rapper on Instagram on Nov. 13.

Raekwon posted a unique photo of Ol’ Dirty Bastard performing alongside a lengthy message. “Miss you darling,” he wrote. “Today is the 20th anniversary of your departure, and we will never forget your presence in this world.” Raekwon, who appeared on Ol’ Dirty’s 1995 classic “Raw Hide,” also announced plans to pay tribute to the singer in Newark, New York. A rapper paid tribute. “Grand opening at our own @hashstoria location in Newark,” Rae explained. “We will be playing your music throughout the day to honor your legacy.” The chef concluded his remarks by noting how important “Old Bastard” was to Wu-Tang’s overall success.

“Thank you for believing in us and putting our strong team on the map,” Raekwon wrote. “You will always be a general in my eyes. Love you.” This isn’t the first time the chef has expressed his gratitude to “Old Dirty” in the two decades since his death. “Dirty” tribute. The follow-up to the rapper’s 2009 classic Onlybuilt 4 Cuban Linx Pt. 2 has a standout cut named after Ol’ Dirty: “Ason Jones.” “The first one to say ‘Yo, keep it real,'” Rae sings. “Yes, lover, father, liar, rap professor. Now, he’s with Allah, which is a blessing.” The end of the song contains a sample of ODB’s talk.

In 2005, Raekwon also paid tribute to Ol’ Dirty Bastard along with other members of Wu-Tang. Rae is one of the artists featured on the tracklist. He appeared with other members of the Wu-Tang Clan on the band’s cut “In Drunk” and the single “I Walked Through My Life.” Raekwon is currently working on his eighth studio album.
