Lil Uzi Vert confesses on new album
Lil Uzi Vert’s fourth studio album “Eternal Atake 2” was released at midnight on Friday (November 1). Fans were surprised last week when Uzi started debuting a new song called “Uzi The Earthling! (TV Show Theme),” which sounded like an old sitcom theme song from the 1950s or 1960s. On album opener “We Good,” the Philly rapper appears to open up about using nitrous oxide. In the video, Uzi is seen inhaling what is believed to be nitrous acid from a balloon while in the studio over the summer.
“They say I’m lost, they think I’m dead/I’m on NOS,” he raps on the track. NOS is slang for nitrous acid.
In August, a video circulated on social media showing Lil Uzi Vert in the studio working on some new music. In the photo, he sucks air from an orange balloon while friends around him inflate their own balloons from cans on the table. Now that Eternal Atake 2 has been released, the moment captured by studio cameras may have come from the album’s recording session. “My son is back, Uzi is back!” the man with the camera shouted. “Yes, sir,” Uzi replied.
At that time, fans were very concerned about Uzi’s health. One fan commented on X (formerly known as Twitter): “No wonder his music is so rubbish it’s fucking his brain right now.” Another fan wrote, “Turn off the gas, gah dayum.
“Gas” refers to the new nickname “galactic gas,” which ties in with the trend of people inhaling whipped cream dispensers containing nitrous oxide to get a brief high. Galaxy Gas is an Atlanta-based kitchen company that sells high-quality whipped cream chargers and dispensers. People have adopted the company’s name, making it synonymous with “breathless.” Breathing into whipped cream dispensers used to be called “whippets.”
This year, several rappers have appeared on camera using nitrous oxide, including Baby Kia and Skrilla. In August, Ye’s former chief of staff, Milo Yiannopoulos, accused Ye of having a nitrous oxide addiction, claiming that a dentist got the rapper hooked on nitrous oxide.
