Benzino said he is working on a documentary about the iconic 1995 Source Awards, which he plans to release in 2025. The night was known for several dramatic moments, including Andre 3000’s “The South has something to say” declaration, Snoop Dogg’s confrontation with the New York City crowd, and more.
“The documentary I’ve been working on for the last year is almost finished,” Benzino told the outlet. I interviewed a lot of people who were there that night, but I can’t reveal too much because it’s not finished yet.

He also mentioned that Suge Knight allegedly mocked Diddy and Bad Boy Records while accepting the award for Soundtrack of the Year. “I was standing right next to the stage when Suge said this. I was nervous because he flew out about 100 people that night and his show cost about $50,000. We have the hip-hop gods to thank for that day. There was no violence that night. Because that wasn’t the only beef; there were other situations that night where we lost two giants that changed hip-hop forever and it still hasn’t recovered,” he said.
