Eminem has a penchant for obscure pop culture figures in his raps, and one person who’s been mentioned several times over the years is embattled music mogul Diddy.
When Shady first mentioned Puff on the unreleased 1996 song “F**king Crazy,” Em was a little-known independent artist.
“Original bad boy on the case/Cover your face/Come to where the mace blows and sprays Puffy,” Em raps on the track, making for a fun pun.
Eminem has been mentioning Diddy in his raps for years. Recently, Em’s tone shifted toward Puff after the Bad Boy founder was sued multiple times for sexual assault. In the song “Fuel,” from Slim’s latest album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce), Em addressed rape accusations against Diddy and speculation that he was involved in Tupac’s death.
“Don’t test like a paper (Why?)/Cause like my brothers out west, yeah (yeah),” Em raps. “We can say (what?)/I’m like a RAPER/I got a lot of S-As/S-As/Wait, he didn’t just spell the word rapper and leave out the ‘P’, did he? / Yeah / Rest in peace, rest in peace, Biggie / And Pac, you all deserve to be alive / Yeah, but I don’t want to argue with him ’cause he might attack me like Keefe D, understand him / It’s you killing The only way to die for me (no) / It won’t be rhythmic, stupid (yeah).
