Eve has been happily married to her husband, Maximilian Cooper, for over a decade, but it took her a long time to overcome the baggage from her previous relationships.
The Rav Ryders rapper reveals in her new memoir Who’s That Girl? In a recent interview, Eve explained that she struggled with trust issues early on before entering into a healthy relationship with her husband.
“There was definitely baggage in the first few years of our relationship,” she said on a recent episode of the Pretty Smart podcast. “We were in a long-distance relationship for a year. Sometimes I would panic. Like he was in London and I was in Los Angeles, and the time difference was crazy — if he didn’t answer the phone, I would immediately ask, ‘Who are you with? What’s going on?
However, Cooper would assure her that she had nothing to worry about. “He would say ‘I’m not that person, I’m not going to lie,'” Eve added. “It took me a few years to say ‘Oh no, I believe him, yeah, this is a very different situation.'” Thank God.
According to Eve, Cooper brought balance to her life. “He’s very good at staying on the ground, and I’m living in the clouds,” she added. “It’s nice that I know I can really fully be myself and not feel crazy about it because in past relationships, when I would get emotional, he would be like, ‘What’s wrong with you?’ … . And I was like ‘What’s wrong with me?’ So it was a great place where we were very honest with each other, which I’ve always called my adult relationship.

Eve thought their relationship would not last long
Eve married the British entrepreneur founder of Gumball 3000 in June 2014 after four years of dating. In a 2020 interview, Eve revealed that she initially didn’t think their romance would last because Maximilian had four children from a previous relationship.
“At first, when I first met my husband (then-boyfriend), I thought, ‘This is never going to last because you have four kids! How is this going to work? But then I met The kids, honestly, ‘Wow, the kids are great,'” she said with a laugh.
