Diddy’s lawyer denied he was suicidal after he was placed on suicide watch at New York’s Metropolitan Detention Center. Defense attorney Marc Agnifilo said officials kept his client under close surveillance, which is routine procedure for new high-profile inmates.
“[He is] Not suicidal at all,” Agnifilo told TMZ.
Diddy, whose real name is Sean Combs, was arrested on Monday (September 16) on charges of sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy and transportation for prostitution. Footage of his arrest emerged on Friday (September 20).

The indictment against Diddy accuses him of “persistent and pervasive” emotional, physical and sexual abuse. Authorities say Diddy and his associates used the “power and prestige” of his business empire to intimidate, threaten and lure female victims into his “orbit.”
“For decades, Sean Combs … abused, threatened and coerced the women and others around him in order to satisfy his sexual desires, protect his reputation and conceal his conduct,” the complaint reads. “To this end, Combs relied on the employees, resources and influence of the multifaceted business empire he led and controlled to create a criminal enterprise whose members and associates engaged in and attempted to engage in criminal activities such as sex trafficking, forced labor, kidnapping, Arson, bribery and obstruction of justice.
Diddy pleaded not guilty to the charges on Tuesday (September 17). His lawyers deny any wrongdoing.
“We are disappointed with the U.S. Attorney’s Office’s decision to unfairly prosecute Mr. Combs,” Agnifilo said. “Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is a music icon, self-made entrepreneur, family man and proven philanthropist who has spent the past 30 years building a Empire, loved his children and was committed to uplifting the black community. He was an imperfect man, but he was not a criminal.
Two judges refused to grant Didi bail. If convicted, he faces life in prison.
