Shaq is fighting back against rumors surrounding himself and his new teammates. The NBA champion went viral on social media earlier this week after users discovered a photo of him posing with a woman who some speculated was his new girlfriend.
Shaq almost immediately responded to the claims with several posts on his Instagram profile. In a clip he shared, Shaq, along with several other unidentified women, posed and recreated the hit film, posting it with a condescending caption and rhetorical question.
“Is this my girlfriend too trust me I will let you guys know who my girl is btw my girl name is Shakira,” Shaq wrote in the caption of the post.

Following a series of follow-up posts, an Instagram user with the handle @_1.filly posted a candid photo of herself and Shaq, as well as other photos and videos of the two allegedly hanging out in Atlantic City, with the former And wandering around Atlantic City. While the woman appeared to share specific receipts from her time with Shaq, Diesel himself commented on the post shared by AllHipHop reporting on the saga and denied the validity of the woman’s post.
“Not me,” he wrote in the comments.
Shaq then continued his prank by sharing another video addressing the incident, with the help of former Hustlers reality show host Peter Gunz. In a clip of the two appearing to be in the podcast studio, Shaq seemed to prove he was serious about the matter by lip-syncing a cover of Shaggy’s song “Wasn’t Me.”
While it’s clear Shaq is happy with the extra attention he’s currently receiving, it’s untrue to say we’ve never seen anything like this before. In mid-July 2023, a series of paparazzi photos of Shaq on a luxury yacht with a young woman went viral on social media, sparking widespread speculation about his relationship status.
The photos, which appeared on platforms like Twitter and Instagram around July 17, show the NBA legend enjoying a sunny day at sea with a woman many believe to be his girlfriend. The photos quickly attracted attention, sparking a wave of comments and rumors about Shaq’s personal life.
