Diddy was arrested today on a New York City grand jury indictment and is currently in the custody of federal agents.

On Monday night (September 16), the New York Times published a report that a grand jury indicted Diddy after nearly a year of sexual assault charges, and he was arrested in Manhattan that night. The news was confirmed by “a person familiar with the indictment but not authorized to speak publicly.”
The charges in the indictment have not been disclosed. TMZ reports that Homeland Security arrested Diddy late Monday at a downtown hotel where she was staying. He was reportedly arrested and taken to the FBI field office in Manhattan. The federal crackdown is reportedly related to an investigation into alleged sex trafficking of Diddy, whose homes in Los Angeles and Miami were raided in March.
Diddy’s attorney, Marc Agnifilo, has provided a statement to XXL confirming Diddy’s arrest.
“We are disappointed with the U.S. Attorney’s Office’s decision to unfairly prosecute Mr. Combs,” the statement read. “Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is a musician An icon, a self-made entrepreneur, a devoted family man and a proven philanthropist who spent the past 30 years building an empire, loving his children and working to uplift the black community.
In May, Diddy’s accusers were rumored to detail their allegations before a federal grand jury as a potential move to prosecute the 54-year-old rap mogul. Federal investigators reportedly informed witnesses that they could testify before a federal grand jury in New York City. The first indictment comes about a week after CNN obtained a 2016 video of Diddy beating his ex-girlfriend Cassie at a hotel.
Diddy’s arrest comes a week after another lawsuit accused him of sexual abuse and violence. Singer Dawn Richard sued Diddy on September 10, claiming that she was the victim of sexual assault, sexual harassment, gender discrimination, hostile work environment, forced labor, false imprisonment and other charges caused by Diddy.
Since November 2023, 10 lawsuits have been filed against Diddy, alleging rape, violence, sex trafficking, drug use and abuse. The most explosive accusations began with singer Cassie’s lawsuit last November. She claimed Diddy raped her and subjected her to years of violence during the decade they dated. One day after the lawsuit was filed, the two settled out of court. Cassie’s legal action is the only one Diddy has settled so far.
