Beyoncé was snubbed in every category for the 2024 CMA Awards, despite having one of the biggest country songs of the year with “Texas Hold ‘Em,” a remake of “Cowboy Carter.” Carter” itself is one of the genre’s hottest albums of 2024.

While Beyoncé was snubbed, Morgan Wallen, who faced backlash for using the “n” word in 2021, leads the way with seven nominations. Post Malone follows with four nominations.

Beyoncé made history with “Texas Hold ‘Em,” which topped Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart for 10 consecutive weeks, setting the second-longest No. 1 single in 2024 and becoming the first to achieve the feat. black women.

“Cowboy Carter” was equally influential, topping the Billboard Country Albums chart for four consecutive weeks. This once again marks the first time a black woman has accomplished this feat.

Despite Beyoncé’s immense achievements, she was eligible for awards in Single of the Year, Song of the Year, Album of the Year, Female Vocalist and other categories, but the CMA Awards refused to recognize her.

Back in 2016, Beyoncé faced backlash for her performance with The Chicks at the 2016 CMA Awards. Country music fans questioned her inclusion, and the CMA’s removal of posts referencing the performance was controversial.

Earlier this year, Beyoncé referenced the CMA controversy while celebrating her historic No. 1 single, revealing it was the inspiration for “Cowboy Carter.”

“It stems from an experience I had many years ago where I felt unwelcome…it was clear that I was not welcome,” she wrote. “But, because of that experience, I learned more about the history of country music and researched our rich musical archives.”
