Megan Thee Stallion got into a feud with Nicki Minaj earlier this year, but she still doesn’t know what Minaj’s problem was.
In an in-depth interview with Billboard on Wednesday (September 4), Meg reflected on the epic back-and-forth that her song “Hiss” sparked—a response to her former collaborator’s subconscious response to a previous song.
“To this day I still don’t know what the problem was,” Meg admits. “I don’t even know what could be reconciled because to this day I don’t know what the problem is.”
However, she knew she had to do something good if people felt threatened by her.
“I’m going to keep doing what I’m doing,” she noted. “If people feel like I’m someone worth targeting, then when you reach out to me, I must be high profile. I must be some kind of competitor. It makes me feel good. It makes me feel like I can Rap, ’cause if I wasn’t trash, y’all wouldn’t worry about me.
In 2023, Minaj publicly attacked Meg on Pink Friday 2’s “FTCU,” rapping: “Keep your Tory Lanez style, bitch, I ain’t Iggy.” Of course it was. Referring to the time Tory shot Megan – and she didn’t have to wait long to fight back.
Just over a month later, Megan’s vicious song “Hiss” made a thinly veiled reference to the 1995 conviction of Nicki’s husband, Kenneth Petty, for raping a 16-year-old.
“These hoes won’t be angry at Megan, these hoes will be angry at Megan’s Law,” she said, citing a federal law that requires authorities to provide information about registered sex offenders to the public.
The “Super Bass” star fired back with an equally vicious “Bigfoot,” which included some lurid accusations and mockery of Meghan’s mother’s death and the aforementioned shooting.
Things quickly calmed down, with Nikki widely criticized and Meghan considered a winner by many — including Charlamagne Towers.
The Houston rapper offers more footage of her fierce rival on her June album “Megan.” Nicki has yet to respond.
