When JAY-Z first met Michael Jackson, he apparently displayed a unique “humility.” Rodney Jerkins, who produced much of the legendary singer’s 2001 album Invincible, recently detailed his first meeting with JAY in a recent interview with Rap Almanac. After the meeting, Jay eventually invited Jackson to perform an iconic performance at the 2001 Summer Jam.
“Do you remember when Michael was brought on stage by JAY-Z?” Jenkins said, as captured by HipHopDX. “Who do you think introduced JAY-Z to Michael? I got a call from my friends Big Chuck (from Brooklyn) and Big Jon [Platt]publisher – who is now CEO of Sony/ATV. They’re like, ‘Yo, JAY really wants to[s] Go meet Michael. Can you do it? I was like, “I got you.” So I took him to the studio and took him to meet Michael. This is the most humble JAY-Z I’ve ever seen in my life…I know JAY is super cool and when he’s with Mike you can tell it’s a different thing.
