Fatman Schoop dies at 53
Former Hot 97 radio personality and entertainer Fatman Scoop was rushed to the hospital after suffering an on-stage emergency while performing at Town Center Park in Hamden, Connecticut, on Friday (August 30). Later died. The New York-born Isaac Freeman III collapsed on stage during a performance and was given CPR before being taken to a hospital, where he later died. He is 53 years old.
Scoop’s tour manager, DJ and producer Birch Michael (aka Pure Cold) confirmed the sad news on his Instagram account.
“It is with the heaviest of hearts that I announce the passing of Isaac Freeman III, known professionally as Fatman Scoop,” he wrote in the post. The post can be viewed below.
I honestly have nothing to say,” he continued. “You’ve taken me all over the world, allowed me to perform with you on some of the biggest, greatest stages on the planet, and you’ve taught me things that have truly made me who I am today.
“Thank you so much, I love you,” he concluded.

What happened to Fatty Spoon?
Fatman Scoop was performing at the 2024 Green & Gold Party concert in Hamden, Connecticut, part of the Hamden Arts Council’s free summer concert series, when he passed out while shaking the microphone on stage.
In a video posted on X (formerly Twitter), Scoop appears to be shirtless as he walks from the front of the stage to a raised DJ booth at the back. As he struggled to climb to the podium, he shouted into the microphone, “I say, Hamden, make some noise!”
“If you come to the party,” Scoop added, then paused for a long moment, “make some noise,” his words slurred.
Shortly thereafter, Fatman Scoop appeared to collapse on the ground behind the stall. The DJ booth partially obscured the view, but a medical professional was spotted performing vigorous CPR on Scoop. He was then taken out on a stretcher and taken to hospital.

Fat scoop is life of the party
Fatman Scoop is arguably one of the biggest hype men in hip-hop. His booming call-and-response and ad-libs like “hands up” and “make noise” can be heard on classic rap songs such as Missy Elliott’s “Lose Control,” Ciara’s “Level Up (Remix)” , “Drop” by Timbaland & Magoo, “No Popcorn” by Tech N9ne, etc. Scoop’s own club anthems like “Be Faithful” (featuring The Crooklyn Clan) and “Freak Show” (featuring Rico Davis) were mainstays on dance floors throughout the 2000s.
Recently, Fatman Scoop collaborated with rapper Dyce Payso to release a new single “Let It Go”.
In addition, on Fatman Scoop’s YouTube page, the late artist also included dozens of video interviews with hip-hop superstars, including Method Man, Bun B, Jim Jones, Ludacris, MC Eiht, Lil Jon, LL Cool J, etc. wait.
After hearing the sad news of Fatman Schoop’s passing, several artists took to social media to pay tribute to the late radio personality.
Core DJ head DJ Tony Neal wrote: “Love you scoop @fatmanscoop [dove emoji] [prayer hands emoji]”.
Hip-hop legend Chuck D calls Fatman Scoop “a great human being.”
Rapper Dee-1 wrote: “RIP Fatman Scoop. This makes me really sad, wow [head bowing down emoji]. We just went on IG Live together. Lord, please bless his family and let his soul rest in peace with You. [prayer hands emoji] [flying dove emoji]”.
