Denzel Curry really wants to work with JID. Both are among the best lyricists of their generation, and Curry felt that making a joint album with JID would enhance his skills. At least that’s what he told Apple Music. “I always look for people who can challenge me [me]”, he said in July. “In order for me to be a better host at the end of the day…steel sharpens steel. The rapper is working on a full album, and luckily for him, the Dreamville superstar is on board too.
Denzel Curry was interviewed on the NFR Podcast on August 5th. “JID, he and I always sing great songs together,” he said. “When I told Apple Music I was interested in working with him, he immediately called me.” The story gets even better. JID is clearly excited at the prospect of working with Curry, and vice versa. “He just called me,” Corey revealed. “He said, ‘At some point, let’s do this.’ I was like, ‘Of course.
JID will also produce a collaborative album with Metro Boomin
JID has been busy since releasing his critically acclaimed 2023 album The Forever Story. The rapper has appeared on numerous albums, most notably Eminem’s “The Death of Slim Shady.” JID appears on the song “Fuel,” and the general consensus is that the Dreamville rapper beats out Em. Despite this stance, JID took to Facebook to give the Detroit legend a shout out. “I’m honored,” he posted. “Thank you @eminem you are a legend.” In addition to a planned album with Denzel Curry, JID also confirmed that he is working on a collaborative album with Metro Boomin.
JID is highly competitive and has clearly been able to hold his own against some of the all-time greats, but the rapper is wary of being constantly compared to others. He laid out the shortcomings of the concept in a 2023 interview with People magazine. “I see people comparing me to people that I should never be compared to,” he explained. “And not in a positive way, like comparing me to DMX or Andre 3000. That’s why Twitter is the wild west, because you can say anything and it can become a topic of conversation.” All comparisons aside Regardless, we agree with NFR Podcast that JID and Curry’s album could very well be the best collaboration of the decade.
