Gillie Da Kid took some time to celebrate the life of her son, YNG Cheese, one year after his son’s life was tragically ended due to gun violence.
The rapper-turned-podcaster took to Instagram on Saturday afternoon (July 20) to share a clip from a video billboard he and his family created to commemorate the one-year anniversary of Cheese’s death.
The young rapper, born Devin Spady, was shot in the back in a triple shooting in Philadelphia. The 25-year-old man was taken to hospital by police and pronounced dead at 8:39 pm on July 23, 2023. At the hospital, both men were in stable condition.

While he didn’t immediately speak about his son’s death, Gillie Da Kid broke his silence more than a week after YNG Cheese was killed.
On July 29, he shared a photo of his son on Instagram along with a heartfelt message.
“I miss you like $hit Dev and there will always be a black hole in my heart but you know your dad had to be strong to support the family,” he wrote. “Thank you 4 family, friends and all my followers for your support, you have really helped me get through these difficult times, my family and I thank and love you [blue heart emoji]”.
He concluded: “Get some rest devs, take care of us, you know I’m being chased [crying emoji] love you cheese [five crying emojis]”.
Killer Mike, Pusha T, YG, Ja Rule and Lloyd Banks were among many other hip-hop figures to pay tribute to YNG Cheese in the comments section of Gillie’s post.
Gillie Da Kid’s Million Dollaz Worth of Game co-host Wallo paid tribute to YNG Cheese on Instagram following the tragedy.
“Lil Cuz usually when I talk to you I have a lot to tell you,” he wrote alongside a photo of the late rapper. “Tonight I pour out the pain and tears in my heart to you. I love you beyond life cheese. I found your dad, rest well!
