Childish Gambino is currently preparing to release his final album, and its first single has been released.
Donald Glover’s final product will be released on July 19th as “Bando Stone & the New World.” An excerpt titled “Lithonia.”
In a departure from his usual style, the rocker features the 40-year-old singer singing and narrating: “Cody LaRae/He took a break, he’s finding out/Nobody cares/I did my job, I paid it forward My price, love is for fools/because no one cares.
To build up anticipation for the new record, Glover will preview it on Saturday (July 6) at Island Park in New York City. Tickets for the event on Wednesday (July 3) can be purchased here .
Last week, the hitmaker released the first trailer for his Bandō Stone and the New World movie. The rapper and actor premiered the two-minute clip at IMAX theaters in late June ahead of a screening of A Quiet Place: Day One.
Earlier in the day, he gave fans a few hours’ notice on Instagram: “Bando Stone trailer coming tonight @imax,” along with a photo of him holding two movie tickets.
The film, produced by RCA and Gilga, stars Glover as a fictional musician named Bando Stone who must navigate a post-apocalyptic world despite his lack of skills.
The creepy yet comedic trailer shows his character uniting with other survivors as they encounter bloodthirsty creatures, electromagnetic traps, and other potential alien threats.
To wrap up the joke, the audience is left with a thought-provoking question: “What will you be when the world ends?”
Bando Stone & The New World will serve as Gambino’s second album in 2024.
In addition to his long-awaited musical return, the “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” star is set to embark on a massive world tour that will take him across North America, Europe and Oceania from August 2024 to February 2025.
Willow Smith and Amaarae will join him as supporters on the global trek.
