50 Cent appears to have avoided being ousted over an incident last year in which he threw a microphone into the crowd at a concert, injuring a radio host.
The G-Unit mogul was sued by Power 106 host Bryhana Monegain for being hit with a microphone and has since been looking for opportunities to question the rapper.
According to court documents posted by Yahoo, Monegan’s attorney said: “Since the August 5, 2024 mediation date has not yet been set, an injunction [50 Cent] Testimonies and testimony must be given immediately.
Monegain’s legal team had previously scheduled a deposition for June 13, but never challenged 50 Cent. She’s asking for $5,000 in sanctions against the rap legend, but a judge has yet to rule on whether 50 will have to answer testimony.
50 Cent avoided criminal charges over the incident, but Monegain has since claimed she suffered permanent injuries from being hit with the microphone.
In court documents obtained by TMZ, Monegain claims that when the 50-member crowd realized his microphone wasn’t working properly during a concert at Los Angeles’ Crypto Arena, he threw the microphone into the crowd and hit her in the face head and wrist, resulting in serious and severe injuries.
Monegan claimed she also suffered a concussion, a cut on her forehead, and bruises.
Although Monegan is back on the air at the Los Angeles radio station, she claims she continues to suffer emotional distress and is suing for lost income, medical bills and damages.
50 Cent has previously denied intending to harm anyone and was cleared of any potential criminal charges when the Los Angeles attorney’s office ruled there was no case to answer.
Following the incident, the rapper’s attorney released a statement, saying: “Let us be clear, as I told the Los Angeles Police Department this afternoon, my client Curtis (aka 50 Cent) absolutely Not intentionally hitting anyone with a microphone. Anyone who says something different doesn’t have all the facts and is misinformed.
50 himself has yet to publicly comment on the incident, but video footage of him throwing a microphone while performing with YG has surfaced, showing the rapper getting frustrated that the microphone wasn’t working properly before firing it into the crowd.
