Ye’s former contractor outlined some strange interactions he had with the rap superstar during the construction of his Malibu, California mansion.

On Monday (June 11), The New Yorker published an extensive report detailing the work Ye did in 2021 on his $57 million Malibu mansion, which is now a concrete shell. The story goes that soon after Ye bought the mansion from famed architect Tadao Ando for $75 million, Ye’s soon-to-be wife, Bianca Censori, hired a A contractor named Tony Saxon.
Before working with Ye, Saxon was very strict in his dealings with Bianca Censori. She said the first thing the “owner” had to do was paint all the shelves, cabinets, closets and bathroom marble, which Saxon pointed out looked terrible.
“He didn’t want any wood to show,” Sensori allegedly told the Saxon.
After getting the paint samples and returning them, Saxon did some paint testing on the areas Censori wanted. Censori then took a photo of the piece and sent it to Ye, who responded that he wanted to rip out all the wood. Saxon called a friend and he did just that, saying he tore out the cabinets and gutted the entire laundry room.
When Saxon went home to sleep, he was woken up by Sensori’s call in the middle of the night. Sensori said that Ye wanted to see him. Saxon said that after meeting Ye, the two often hung out, and Ye once invited him to a room at the Nobu Hotel in Malibu after a day’s work.
As time went on, however, Saxon said, the requests grew increasingly frantic. He started working 16 hours a day without sleeping. He completely gutted the kitchen. There is no place to store food. All five bathrooms were blown out, and Saxon said he was forced to take naps in the house and felt exhausted. Saxon once recalled waking up to find Ye standing over him and saying, “I thought you were going to work.”
Another crazy thing is that Saxon claimed that Ye opened a hatch in the floor one day while on the property and the two of them climbed down a ladder into a dark basement.
“This will be my bomb shelter,” Ye said. “This will be my Batcave.”
Saxon added that Ye eventually asked that the house be completely off the grid. At one point he yelled at him: “Why is there still electricity here?”
After about a week, Saxon said, he stopped getting paid on time, and he eventually got into an argument with Ye over his frantic demands and unpaid wages.
“If you don’t do what I ask, I won’t be your friend anymore,” Ye allegedly said. “You won’t work for me anymore. You’ll only see me on TV.”
Saxon said he told Ye he didn’t watch TV and “just f*cking walked out.”

Building rot leaves construction company closed
The exhaustive report comes as Malibu mansions remain unoccupied and decaying. Ye reportedly closed his Yeezy Construction company last November and has since been trying to sell the space for $57 million without success. Saxon also filed a lawsuit against Ye last September and is holding the tycoon accountable for unpaid wages and violating multiple labor regulations.
