Oprah Winfrey is reassuring fans that she is recovering and feeling better after Gayle King revealed the media maven was hospitalized with a stomach virus.

Winfrey missed a scheduled appearance on CBS morning show Oprah’s Book Club on Tuesday (June 11). King told viewers that Winfrey was unwell and vividly described her symptoms. However, the news sparked concern among fans and made headlines, resulting in Winfrey’s phone being blown up.
Kim shared an update late Tuesday, posting a video call with her best friend to confirm her condition was improving. “I was so dehydrated,” Winfrey said, explaining her trip to the emergency room. “I had a dry mouth and couldn’t drink enough water to stay hydrated.”
King said she still looked a little “frail,” and Winfrey agreed she wasn’t completely back to health. “But I’m on my way,” she added.
Winfrey said five people in her family have also contracted the virus and reminded viewers to remember to wash their hands.

Although social media users speculated that the illness was a side effect of weight-loss drugs, this was denied. A spokesperson told CNN that Winfrey’s illness “is not related to diet pills.” In late 2023, Oprah Winfrey revealed that she had been taking anti-obesity medication.
Gayle King revealed that Oprah Winfrey has been hospitalized while explaining her absence on the CBS morning show.
“She had some kind of stomach bug – the stomach flu, stuff was coming out of both ends. I won’t be too graphic,” King said. “But needless to say, she ended up in the hospital. She was dehydrated and she was put on an IV, so it was a very serious thing.
