There is no future in the rearview. Atlanta rappers have been stepping on metal since he hopped onto the rap game, which has led to one of the most prolific catalogs in hip-hop. And there is no sign that he is ready to leave the fast lane.
Since his 2010 Mixtape 1000 release, Future has released 35 albums, mixtapes, joint projects and EPS. Over the past decade, there have been an average of 2.3 projects per year. Studio Junky regularly meets fans’ demand for new music. And there are some memorable moments. Dirty Sprite, DS2, Monster, Beast Mode, 56 Nights, to name a few. He was stamped as one of the most influential artists of the past decade. Many people included him in their Big Three.
So why did his fellow artists spend their sweet time launching new products, and why should they work hard?
“I am still achieving goals that I have set for myself,” Future told XXL in 2020. “And if they give me too much credit now, it ain’t gonna be fair ’cause I am constantly finding ways to evolve and I feel like sometimes you can speak too soon and I don’t want nobody to speak too soon and then curse me. So, just let me work. I understand and I recognize it, but at the end of the day, I am still achieving certain goals that I set out for myself and that’s how I look at it.”
This emotion continues. Last year was the year for Hendrix’s banners. Although it marks his 14th year in the rap game, it is his best calendar to date. In March, he released the highly anticipated joint project We Don’t Trust You with Metro Boomin, which produced Kendrick Lamar’s first single “Like Than.” He follows us in the April sequel and still doesn’t trust you. Two albums ranked No. 1 on the Billboard 200 rankings.
However, the future is not completed. He released the Solo Mixtape Mixtape Pluto in September last year, which also ranked first in the mixtape Pluto. This feat makes the future the first solo artist to win three first-place projects in six months. He now has 11 first albums, which just makes him support only Drake (13) and Jay-Z (14), the rapper’s rapper tops the charts.
After that, one might think that the future will be life, vacation. That would be a completely wrong assumption. Hendrix didn’t let his feet off the gas. In January, he mocked a new product on Instagram subtitles and told fans “New Tape OTW”. The tape has obviously become a full-length album. On March 4, FreeBandz head Honcho teased the upcoming LP. “Album bout ot be [six fire emojis] Trust me,” he tweeted.
Despite the new car smelling a long time ago, the 41-year-old rapper is still one of the most original rides on the showroom floor. With his Tupac-like work ethic, checkered flags seem to be out of the way anywhere.
