Young Thug’s lawyer was detained and found in contempt of court in connection with court proceedings in the ongoing YSL RICO case.
Brian Steele’s confrontation with Judge Ural Glanville involved Glanville, prosecutors and one of the state’s star witnesses in court that morning, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported Monday (June 10) private conversations.
When asked how he learned about the meeting, Steele refused to identify his source and was escorted from the courtroom.
“You got some information that you shouldn’t have,” Glanville told Steele before instructing court deputies to take him into custody.
Steele then told the judge that he “shouldn’t be communicating with sworn witnesses,” referring to Kenneth Copeland, who died on Friday (June 7) despite a qualified immunity agreement. ) spent the weekend in jail after refusing to testify.
However, he took the witness stand on Monday. The meeting that morning was apparently the reason for his change of heart, and Steele thought he should attend.
After he was taken away, District Attorney Adriane Love asked that he be allowed back into the courtroom for the rest of the day’s proceedings, and he was eventually allowed back into the courtroom.
However, Granville still plans to defy him if he doesn’t reveal his source by the end of the working day.
As previously reported, Copeland, also known as Lil Woody, appeared in court last week to invoke his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination, Fox 5 Atlanta reported.
He does this even with the most basic questions like “How old are you?” When he refused to comply, Judge Granville ordered him held until Monday on a willful contempt charge because prosecutors had offered him an immunity deal in exchange for his testimony against the mob.
In response, Brian Steele filed a motion for a mistrial.
