Young Thug now officially has a third judge to preside over his dramatic YSL RICO trial.
As previously reported, Judge Ural Granville, who had overseen the trial since its inception, was removed from office on Monday (July 15).
The mob’s attorney, Brian Steel, made the suggestion last month after meeting with prosecutors and state witness Kenneth Copeland without the knowledge of Granville and his legal team. A motion was filed to have Granville dismissed from the case.
He was subsequently replaced by Judge Shakura Ingram, who recused herself on Wednesday (July 17) because her former court deputy was romantically involved with a co-defendant in the case .
However, just hours later, Ingram was replaced by Judge Paige Reese Whitaker, who according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution has now been officially added to the court docket to preside over the hearing. the case.
Whitaker, who has served as Fulton County judge since 2017, is a former Fulton County prosecutor and has also worked in the state Attorney General’s Office.
Both Ingram and Whitaker were reportedly selected at random.

Mr. Williams is grateful that the reviewing court agreed with him and ordered that Judge Granville be recused and disqualified from presiding over Williams’ case. We expect trial judges to follow the law fairly and faithfully.
Lawyers for Thug’s co-defendant, YSL rapper Yak Gotti (real name Deamonte Kendrick), also announced they would file a motion for a mistrial in the tumultuous case.
Controversy erupted around Glanville in June after she held a private meeting with Copeland and prosecutors that critics said should have taken place in open court.
