Artist Yasiin Bey (née Mos Def) is returning to the music industry with her long-awaited new album, Forensics, set to be released in 2025. The first official album of the year.
His last album was 2006’s True Magic. Fans of the legendary rapper and actor are eagerly awaiting new music, and a collaboration with The Alchemist promises thought-provoking bars and killer production.
Although details are scant, fans have not hesitated to express their enthusiasm online.
“Real music is back,” one person said.
“I didn’t expect this but it was necessary!!! Let’s go! New Yasiin Bey music for 2025 is definitely on my wish list.
One person took a more humorous approach, saying, “I’m a manager at Target and I do this shit there.”
The comment follows Bey’s comments about Drake in 2024, in which he compared the music played by Canadians at retail stores like Target. After receiving backlash, Bay posted a 25-minute video on her Instagram on Monday (January 29) in response to the uproar, partially apologizing to Drake while clarifying her comments.
Fans will have to wait and hear if The Alchemist’s project is sonically compatible with retail.
A live performance corresponding to the new music will take place in Paris in January. See details below.
