Kendrick Lamar is known as the winner of the Drake war. His hits include “Like That” and “Not Like Us.” He played a better game strategically. The Compton rapper also capitalized on the momentum of the fight better than his opponent. His last album “GNX” has already attracted widespread attention. Still, some people feel that Drake performed better. Some claim that Drake actually has a more impressive diss record. WWE’s The New Day proudly represents this camp. The duo, consisting of wrestlers Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston, stood firm against Kendrick Lamar.
Monday Night RAW seems like an odd place to relive Drake’s battle with Kendrick Lamar. Alas, New Day feels the need to dig into a conflict from a year ago and offer some hot takes. They claim Kendrick Lamar is a “trash rapper” and nowhere near as talented an artist as Drake. “Think about it,” Xavier Woods said in a heated RAW interview. “You’ve spent the last six months lifting up the trash rapper Kendrick Lamar,” Wood’s comments predictably drew boos from the crowd. Still, Woods and his fellow wrestlers kept going.
New Day lets fans boo Kendrick Lamar
Kofi Kingston turns the boos on, you guessed it, Lamar. “Yeah, boo him! We think he’s terrible too,” he yelled into the microphone. “Shush him!” Kingston then decided to rub salt in the wound by saying that Drizzy actually beat Kenny in the 2024 fight. “You’re not mad at us,” he insisted. “You’re mad at Kendrick Lamar because Drake won the beef.” You were correct in your assumption that the wrestler’s inflammatory remarks prompted more boos from the crowd. The New Day know what they are doing to attract attention.
That said, Drake’s recent actions don’t represent victory. The rapper is in a legal battle with his record label, UMG. He claimed that UMG and Spotify conspired to boost streaming numbers for Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us.” Both companies have denied the accusations, but 6 God is moving forward. Meanwhile, Lamar is basking in GNX’s success. He’s gearing up for the SZA tour and the Super Bowl halftime show in February.
