Wiz Khalifa and Snoop Dogg are helping screen high school characters in Pittsburgh’s education funding “Mac & Devin Climb High School” for real life.
Two hip-hop heavyweights teamed up with Pittsburgh-born sports analyst and entertainer Pat McAfee to support Pittsburgh public schools.
The three gave up a $50,000 donation to help fund local public schools.
“This one-time donation not only reflects a shared belief in the potential of our students, but also strengthens the strength and impact of the community,” said Portia Martin, media manager at Pittsburgh Public Schools.
The funds will be allocated to regional programs and programs designed to support the city’s diverse student population.
Pittsburgh Public Schools serve approximately 20,000 students and are the second largest area in Pennsylvania. According to regional data, 78.6% of students are financially disadvantaged, with more than 50 languages on their campus.
Pittsburgh native Wiz Khalifa has long celebrated his hometown roots through music and philanthropy.
His connection to Snoop Dogg began a decade ago when Snoop’s son introduced him to Wiz’s music.
This Bond evolved into collaboration, tour and their 2012 Stoner comedy film Mac & Devin went to high school have become a favorite among hip-hop fans.
Their friendship has always been based on mutual respect, and donations are the latest example of their commitment to giving back.
