Will Smith didn’t back down in the surprise freestyle at Charlie Sloth’s UK “Fire in The Booth” earlier this week, giving up some harsh bars that seemed to target Chris Rock and the infamous Oscars.
The rapper-turned actor published a distinctive passage that mentioned the 2022 Oscar events without a name.
“If you talk on the stage, your face is crazy, you don’t respect me on the stage, expect me on the stage.” He rhymes and then followed, “Just say, when to take it out, when to pick it up, that’s the real city, there’s no real city to fake it.”
Freestyle is not the first time Smith has spoken of Oscar theatre drama through music. He also mentioned the controversy about his latest project based on a true story.
The moment of discussion happened at the 94th Academy Awards in March 2022, when Locke made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith’s shaved head.
Smith walked on the stage, slapped the rocks and shouted, “Stop my wife’s name!”
Will Smith reflects on Chris Rock drama
Earlier this month, Smith opened up the emotional loss of the incident in an interview with BBC 1XTRA’s Remi Burgz.
“For me, I’ve been reflecting deeply in recent years,” he said. “I shut it down for a minute after the Oscars and really went into the internal work, just giving myself a big, strong, honest view.”
He added: “This is the first time in my career,[I]have to deal with disapprovals I have never experienced. The addiction to the recognition of others I have to disband is cruel.”
Smith also reviews how a slap forced him to face a part of a part he had never explored before.
“It’s like there’s a hole in some unexplored area, and the holes are covered,” he explained. “What’s in a minute is frightening.”
