Veeze defends Lil Yachty against sneaker critics while also teasing a new colorway of the controversial shoe.
Lil Yachty’s frequent collaborator Veeze is standing up for him after a recent confrontation with a sneaker critic who previously disparaged his Nike collaboration Concrete Boys.
In his latest series of Instagram Story posts, the Detroit rapper spoke out against the growing discussion surrounding Lil Boat based on his interactions with Portland-based content creator Bimma Williams. In a series of posts he shared, Veeze showed off what appears to be a yet-to-be-released colorway of Lil Yachty’s Concrete Boys Air Force 1 sneakers — which Williams previously teased were akin to a “full release” from the sportswear giant ”.
“They love and hate my little brother,” Weisz wrote in the story. “Whenever a fool doesn’t understand that we get our swag from the true tastemakers and boys we grew up with, I’m going to take action against him.”
Veez continued in another story, “Bloggers be stupid. I know you’re all talking about shock.
He concluded that his Atlanta rap rival has created longevity for himself nearly a decade after his hit song “Minnesota” propelled him to the forefront of the mainstream seemingly overnight.
“Y’all should be proud of the fact that most rappers who got rich as teenagers are not here today,” he wrote.
Yachty and Williams, who have previously worked at brands including Nike and adidas, went back and forth explicitly during a panel discussion at Complexcon earlier this month. The row began when Lil Bot learned of William’s presence in the crowd, leading to an expletive-laden rant.
“Everyone has an opinion on sneakers,” Yachty said. “So if I want to make an air force and I want it to be white and blue – if you don’t like it, that’s cool, but he’s trying to make it look like ‘This n###a can’t be made Shoes, because he disrespects the culture, ‘What the f###a are you talking about?
Yachty continued, “I’ve been obsessed with this sneaker for 15 years, and I only had 5 cents to my name at the time. I could tell you about any type of shoe. What are you talking about? You obviously have no idea about my history with sneakers. And my level of involvement in it.
