One man had to throw away $35 worth of DoorDash food when it arrived at his door. Why? He had a lot of dog hair attached to him during delivery.
TikTok content creator Hunter (@hunterp1017) noticed a photo of him giving birth on top of a large bag of dog food. When Pocahontas arrives to deliver, he discovers that the order is covered in dog hair, making the delivery feel unhygienic. But what was even worse was how the man delivered the food. “Pocahontas” has the dog in the backseat of the car tearing into Hunter’s dinner.
Hunter then inspected the contents of his luggage and discovered apparent quality issues that made his food unsafe to eat. Hunter posted on his platform that he “will never order from DoorDash again” after this experience. His video now has 570,000 views, and others have weighed in, even defending DoorDash, saying drivers aren’t “all bad apples.”
Hunter’s Gate Dash Experience
When Hunter decided to order from DoorDash, he did so because he wasn’t feeling well. He had had an extremely difficult day at work and wanted a pick-me-up to lighten his day.
The content creator noted that he doesn’t typically order DoorDash because it’s “too expensive.” DoorDash deliveries typically come with additional service fees and food delivery fees, as well as other fees based on the order location and order size. Then, add a tip, usually between 15% and 20% of the base order.
When Hunter was alerted that his food had been taken, he looked at the photos provided by Dasher. There, he saw his drink and food in the car, which contained a large amount of dog hair.
Hunter sat at the kitchen window waiting for his order. Just then, a charger named “Pocahontas” arrived. “Pocahontas came out,” Hunter said. “Pocahontas is a six-foot-two, six-foot-three black guy, and he was reaching for my food… He got out of the car and he had my bag of food in his hand. When he pulled the bag out, the dog actually stuck his nose into my bag of food and bit the bag, and he was like trying to take the bag away from the dog.”
Hunter checks his DoorDash order
Hunter walked outside to meet the man, who already knew he didn’t want to eat the food.
“So, I walked to the car. I had a mango drink. Look at this [expletive] When I entered. As you can see, this is in the cup,” Hunter said, pointing directly at a piece of dog hair floating in the drink. “Now, the restaurant for some reason didn’t put a seal on the top of the cup, and I did say something to them. But that’s dog hair on top. “
Hunter then urged other DoorDash drivers to maintain some “common courtesy” when making deliveries.
“Everyone has an opinion, but if you’re giving people food and doing things like that, maintain some common courtesy and understand that not everyone wants their stuff to be covered in dog hair,” he added.
Viewers took to the comments section of the video to share their own horrific experiences, from drinks being consumed and refilled before being delivered to a person’s door, to drivers eating half of their order before it arrived.
“I work in the kitchen,” one commenter shared. “I wish we could tell the story about DoorDash Driver’s story, getting people to stop ordering. We saw people using their kids to get food, drinks and refills, telling us directly that they were going to eat their food in the car, leaving half of their order behind because they couldn’t follow the signs that said to contact the staff before ordering (us Separate hot and cold food so it doesn’t get hot), took the completely wrong order, and smelled terrible when it came in. Can’t imagine the condition of their car. We sealed our bags and switched to bottles to avoid having to drink and refill, but I’m definitely not going to go through DoorDash. Order.”
Another commenter said they would never buy food from DoorDash considering how unclean people are.
“If I can’t go shopping, I won’t eat,” they said. “I’m not going to pay $25 … for a McDonald’s meal and have it handled by someone other than the person who makes my food. Some people just aren’t clean.”
Should Hunter report the situation to DoorDash?
Viewers urged Hunter not to consider this an issue with all DoorDash drivers. Instead, they suggest treating it as a person’s problem.
“Report this to DoorDash,” one viewer added. “I’ve been doing this for years. I don’t eat food, I’m clean, I’m pretty, my car is always clean and smells clean, and I don’t have pets… I can’t get my hair everywhere.”
But other customers have had problems reporting complaints to DoorDash in the past. Customer support does not always support refunds or reshipping, especially if the customer technically received the order.
DoorDash customer support has previously dismissed accusations that customers received the wrong items, such as customers who ordered Arby’s and received cough syrup at their door. This has led some platform users to rely on refunds.
Hunter said he planned to report the order because he wanted to get his money back. It’s unclear whether he got it.
