Spring has officially arrived, and there’s plenty of new music to welcome in the warmer months. This week, a pop-punk convert teamed up with a Soundcloud rap prodigy for a genre-crossing tape, an EDM titan teamed up with a DC rapper, and a Boom Bap veteran dropped his first album of the year Album return, and more.

MGK and Trippie Redd Link Type: Sadboy Album

Machine Gun Kelly and Trippie Redd announced on March 21 that they would be joining forces for a new project titled Genre: Sad Boys. The album includes the single “Lost Boys,” which the pair previously released on Tuesday (March 26). This is not the first time the two have collaborated. They have previously linked up with 2019’s “Candy” from MGK’s Hotel Diablo and 2020’s “All I Know” from MGK’s Tickets to My Downfall. Trippie is also opening for the Cleveland rapper on his 2022 Mainstream Sales Tour.

Rico Nasty and Boys Noize collaborate on Hvrdcore Dr3amz EP

Rico Nasty and dance music maven Boyz Noize have teamed up to produce the Hvrdcore Dr3amz EP, a flawed, powerful EP perfect for the holiday season. Rico seems well-suited to branch out into EDM, with his 2022 album Las Ruinas dipping into a variety of genres, including pop-punk and screamo. Noize and Rico previously released the EP’s lead single “Arintintin” on February 28th.

Roc Marciano releases first tape of 2024 via Marciology

Roc Marciano returns after an intense performance in 2023 with Marciology, his first tape of 2024. The album was produced almost entirely by Roc, with “Bad JuJu” produced by The Alchemist. Guests on the album include Larry June, TF, Flee Lord, Jay Worthy, Knowledge the Pirate and Gre8t Gawd. Marciology follows Roc and The Alchemist’s critically acclaimed album The Elephant Man’s Bones, which received the deluxe treatment in 2023. Roc Marciano has also previously been linked with Jay Worthy for the latter’s “Nothing Bigger Than the Program” last May.
