Last February, Trey Songz was sued by an anonymous woman accusing him of sexual assault. The woman, who goes by the pseudonym Jian Qiao, claimed she attended a house party with the performer after meeting him at a nightclub in Los Angeles in 2016. The night took a turn for the worse when Trey Songz invited her upstairs, where the alleged sexual assault occurred. Atlantic Records, Trey Songz’s manager Kevin Lilies and 300 Entertainment are also named as defendants in the lawsuit.
They have now reportedly reached a settlement, but the exact amount has not been disclosed. Initially, the alleged victim sought $25 million in damages to alleviate the mental and emotional distress caused by the incident. They were scheduled to appear in court for a hearing in September, but the hearing was vacated due to the settlement. “The settlement agreement is conditional on the matter being dismissed subject to non-fulfillment of certain terms within 45 days of the date of satisfactory completion of the settlement. The legal document reportedly states that the request for dismissal will be made by June 10, 2024.”

It’s unclear whether Songz admitted guilt as a condition of the settlement, but he denied the accusations on social media last year. “Lies never become truth,” he wrote on Instagram Stories. “Whoever chooses to believe that.” Sadly, this is not the first woman to accuse Trey Songz of sexual assault. Just last month, Winter Blanco came forward on an episode of Behind The Likes, accusing him of sexually assaulting her in 2018. She revealed that she chose to remain silent for the sake of her career.
“I’m tired of letting abusers get away with it,” she explained at the time. “I’m not going to talk about it because I’m still trying to make music.” What are your thoughts on Trey Songz settling a $25 million lawsuit?
