weekend He is pausing his next big chapter as California grapples with the devastation caused by relentless wildfires.

The artist revealed on Instagram that he will be delaying the release of his highly anticipated album Hurry Up Tomorrow and canceling an upcoming concert at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena.

The Weeknd says Los Angeles, a city that has long inspired his music, has become a community in dire need of support.

“Out of respect and concern for the people of Los Angeles County, the Rose Bowl show has been canceled and the album date has been postponed to January 31, 2025.” he wrote. “With love, Abel.”

The Canadian star’s sixth album, originally scheduled for release in January, will now be released on the last day of the month.

The decision comes as Southern California faces a staggering toll from 23 wildfires.

Thousands of buildings were reduced to ashes, 25 people were killed and an estimated 180,000 residents were forced to flee.

As flames engulf the landscape and upend communities, The Weeknd shares his thoughts in a heartfelt post to show support for those affected.

“This city has been a profound source of inspiration to me and my thoughts are with everyone affected during this difficult time,” the 34-year-old said. “My focus remains on supporting these communities. Recovery and helping incredible people rebuild.”

Fans who purchased tickets for the canceled January 21 concert through Ticketmaster will receive a refund.

The Weeknd’s decisions to postpone and cancel aren’t entirely isolated, however.

In Los Angeles, a series of events including live performances and pre-Grammy festivities have been canceled as organizers prioritize safety amid the unfolding crisis.

Despite widespread cancellations, the Grammy Awards ceremony is still scheduled to take place on February 2 at Crypto.com Arena.

“Hurry Up Tomorrow” will mark the final act in The Weeknd’s trilogy, which began with “After Hours” in 2020 and continues with “Dawn FM” in 2022.

Fans will have to wait a little longer to see the next installment, which for many is a compassionate delay.
