ScHoolboy Q can still smell flowers and is delivering flowers to Lupe Fiasco after recently interacting with a fan on Twitter.
ScHoolboy Q recently expressed his admiration for Lupe Fiasco’s new album Samurai on Twitter in response to a fan’s query about his thoughts on the LP. In addition to emphasizing his love for the record, ScHoolboy Q briefly described in a very direct way what he thinks makes Lupe a great MC.
“Brother’s tone and pen are inspiring. I love choppy raps and awkward vocals, but Lupe has super intelligence and he writes the perfect iono. Album is awesome,” ScHoolboy Q said on Twitter .
Responding to ScHoolboy Q’s tweet, Lupe wrote: “Thank you for loving me friend…” in a tweet with a golf emoji attached.
Brother’s tone and pen are inspiring. I love the staccato rapping and awkward vocals, but Lupe has super smarts when it comes to writing the perfect piece “iono”. Album Dope https://t.co/H9QG4R27ra

As if the TDE rapper’s high praise for the project wasn’t enough, Lupe raised the bar even further in a follow-up tweet by revealing surprising facts about the process of making the complex and dense album.
Most of Samurai was recorded in GarageBand in my living room.

ScHoolboy Q and Lupe Fiasco have long shown a mutual respect for each other’s skills, despite their distinctly different musical styles. ScHoolboy Q’s gritty street bars embody the essence of Los Angeles gang culture, while Lupe Fiasco is known for his intellectual and socially conscious approach to hip-hop.
Their paths crossed in 2015 when they collaborated on the song “No Scratches,” which blended Q’s unique delivery with Lupe’s reflective and poetic verses. In addition to their musical collaboration, the two artists frequently interact on social media, exchanging words of encouragement and praise, demonstrating a genuine friendship and mutual admiration for each other’s work.
Lupe Fiasco’s records are a testament to his evolution as an artist and his ability to push the boundaries of hip-hop. From his critically acclaimed debut album Food & Liquor, which featured fan favorites like “Kick, Push” and “Daydreamin’,” to his poignant, lyrical concept work “Tetsuo & Youth” , Lupe has been challenging the norms of hip-hop and rapping with his intricate storytelling and innovative production.
It’s no wonder ScHoolboy Q is so hyped about this project, as he’s one of the top rap album curators of 2024, having rightly called Vince Staples’ latest LP a hit just weeks before its release.
