Tha Eastsidaz is a trio from Long Beach, California, consisting of Big Tray Deee, Goldie Loc and WWE Hall of Famer Snoop Dogg. In the early 2000s, they released a classic self-titled full-length debut album via Doggystyle Records and TVT Records, followed by Duces ‘n Trayz: The Old Fashioned Way and That’s My Work 4. reunited and signed with Death Row Records, currently distributed by gamma. Debut EP.
After the “Passport” intro, the first song, “Hood Been Good,” begins with a smooth West Coast intro about how great the streets of Long Beach were to them, while “Groove Bacc” goes the g-funk route , so Tha Eastsidaz can get their bags back. The Rick Rock-produced “Rag Tied” represents the band’s crip relationship, before DJ Battlecat brings some rap-rock tone to “Going Down,” talk about changing the game. “Watch & Chillin'” fashionably classifies itself as a lyrical menace, while “Gangstafied” ends with an EP detailing gangster life.
Tha Dogg Pound’s latest album, WAWG (We All We Got), marks the duo’s return following a commercial run with DPG 4 Life and Danny Boy announced a few months ago that he had returned to Death Row, so it’s just Tha Eastsidaz As they do sooner or later, they’ve given us an EP ahead of the label’s upcoming LP. The production sticks to the West Coast sound that was prominent on their previous material, and I like that they don’t have any guests other than Snoop on the 4 cuts.
