The concerts in NBA Youngboy and Kansas City were in chaos when a 66-year-old arena staffer was attacked by a teenager and now faces felony charges.
The incident took place on September 21 at the T-Mobile Center at the NBA Youngboy. A viral video captures the moment the teen pushed long-time employee Thomas Schlage to the ground and repeatedly hit him.
Schleic said the teen’s anger was overwhelming.
“I mean, it’s serious; I fell down my head. Just drove him down and took him away… Because he was angry, we were essentially just trying to protect the fans,” he told Kansas City’s fox4
The teenager allegedly attacked a security guard while accompanying him from the venue. The juvenile office of Jackson County’s 16th Judicial Circuit Court charged unnamed minor assault and one misdemeanor count.
Due to the age of the suspect, his identity has not been disclosed.
It began to be a seat dispute, said Robert McDaniel, a local pastor who recorded the dispute. “He was asked to move to another place because his ticket was not where he sat,” McDaniel said. “He lost it completely immediately.”
Despite the trauma, Schrager expressed a balanced response to the allegations. “Accountability is important,” he said.
After the incident, the T-Mobile Center has not issued any updates regarding its security policies.
