Swizz Beatz and Timbaland are teasing the return of Verzuz, hinting at their return after striking a publishing partnership with Elon Musk’s X (Twitter) earlier this year.
The super-producer launched its online platform during the pandemic and quickly filled the void for live music fans long stuck at home. Verzuz quickly developed into a cultural phenomenon, rising in popularity with endless viral moments and memorable clashes.
However, Verzuz continued to take a hiatus due to Swizz Beatz and Timbaland’s legal dispute with former partner Triller. The pair won the court case, retained full ownership of the platform, received a $28 million settlement, and then reached an exclusive agreement with X.
While Swizz and Timbo have been largely silent since announcing their new deal, they’re now one step closer to a relaunch and ready to reignite the buzz.
Swizz shared an exciting update via his Instagram Story on Wednesday (November 6). It seems that production of the new series is well underway, with peripheral merchandise already entering mass production.
Swizz released a video of a new Verzuz hoodie, revealing that a comeback is just around the corner. “Loading 2025,” he wrote in the video.
Swizz Beatz and Timbaland announced their partnership with Musk in June, saying they were “extremely pleased to have found the best partner for Verzuz.”
“Our goal has always been to bring Verzuz to the world, and we can now do it bigger than ever,” Timbo explained.
Still, the pair faced backlash for working with the controversial tech billionaire. Swizz Beatz has responded to critics, insisting they aren’t sold out yet and promising that all will be revealed once Verzuz relaunches.
