Summer Walker accidentally released a message via a lie detector test to confirm the release date of her third studio album, Finally Over It, which will be released on November 14th via LVRN/Interscope Records.
The Atlanta singer revealed the news in a six-minute YouTube video in which she was hooked up to a polygraph and answered a series of yes or no questions. The unconventional launch not only confirms the date, but also closes the loop on her Over It trilogy, which she began in 2019.
“Finally Over It” is released four years after her second album “Still Over It,” which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart in November 2021. The album sold 166,000 equivalent units in its first week, making it the first female R&B album to top the charts in more than five years, according to Billboard.
Her 2019 debut album Over It also made a splash, topping the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and helping to solidify her status as a major voice in modern R&B. Critics praised her raw lyrics and vocal delivery, which resonate with listeners on a journey of love, heartbreak, and healing.
The decision to use a polygraph test to announce the album reflected Walker’s talent for unconventional marketing. The video has already sparked discussion online, adding a layer of humor and honesty to what could have easily been a standard press release.
Walker has kept a relatively low profile in recent months, making this news a big moment for those who have been waiting for her next move. “Finally Over It” marks the end of the trilogy, and the project is expected to tie together the emotional threads she has explored since her debut.
The album’s mid-November release date places it at the height of the fourth-quarter music boom, a period usually reserved for high-stakes dropouts and Grammy hopefuls.
