Stevie J has always been on Diddy’s side. He is a central member of Diddy’s roster of producers, known as “The Killer,” and he has urged the public to go easy on the mogul in light of recent accusations. It won’t be easy to find Diddy supporters in 2024, but Stevie J is on the shortlist. Well, he is. The producer appeared on the recent TMZ documentary “The Downfall of Diddy” and admitted he was shocked by footage of his friends beating Cassie.
Stevie J told TMZ boss Harvey Levin that he met Diddy shortly after the video surfaced online. He claimed to have had a heart-to-heart conversation with the Bad Boy founder. “It was a really exciting moment,” Stevie J recalled. “The release of that video made him sad and it broke him.” The producer said Diddy’s reasoning for the incident was very similar to the reason given in Diddy’s now-infamous IG apology video. “He was in a dark place in his life,” Stevie J asserts. “He just did a lot of drugs and it was dark for him.”
Steve J says Diddy was ashamed of the video
The “dark place” angle is nothing new to those who have followed the case. However, the suggestion that Diddy was on drugs at the time of the attack is correct. While it may not be shocking considering the idea that Diddy smokes a variety of drugs, Stevie J claims the mogul confirmed this privately. Another revelation from the TMZ interview came when Levine asked Diddy about her reaction to the footage. Instead of expressing regret for what he did, Steve claimed the mogul cared about who would see it.
“He said, ‘Yo, my daughter and my mom have to see this,'” Stevie J recalled. “I was like, yeah, your friends should see it, too.” Levine questioned Diddy’s thought process, especially when the producer pointed out that Diddy hated “reliving” that moment. However, Steve J balked at the idea that the mogul’s reaction was selfish. “Who wants to see himself beating a girl,” he asserted. “I think it’s going to hurt all of us.” Diddy is currently awaiting trial on racketeering and sex trafficking charges.
