Longtime music executive Steve Stoute’s publishing company, UnitedMasters, is offering independent artists a chance to win a grand prize worth $250,000.

UnitedMasters launches new challenge for independent artists

On Tuesday (August 13), UnitedMasters announced their “Debut” challenge. The competition invites U.S. artists who are members of the platform to submit tracks for a chance to win a grand prize worth $250,000 and join UnitedMasters’ elite list of partners. The competition coincides with the launch of UM’s new DEBUT+ tier, priced at $19.99 per year. This tier allows aspiring artists to get their music on major streaming platforms while retaining 100% of royalties.

Please view the terms and conditions of the competition here.

Who is the United Master?

UnitedMasters, founded by Steve Stoute in 2017, has raised $70 million in Silicon Valley investment funding from companies including Alphabet Inc., Andreessen Horowitz and 21st Century Fox, and has partnered with NewsCorp Shared common ownership.

“We wanted to build a business that would help musicians, which is my passion, but also help brands find a more concrete way to invest money into music,” Stout said at the time.

In addition to distribution, UnitedMasters provides data analytics, marketing and promotion tools, and creative services to help artists grow their audiences. The company currently has partnerships with artists such as NLE Choppa, Brent Faiyez, BigXThaPlug, Tobe Nwigwe, EarthGang, Anycia and more.

“We want more artists to have the opportunity and the ability to get their music out there,” Stott said on a recent episode of XXL’s Inside Track podcast. “Being able to incorporate their music into brand campaigns, that’s what UnitedMasters What you have with a subscription service (either Select or DEBUT+) and being able to do what you love and turn it into a way to make a living.”
