Snoop Dogg is not worried about France’s cannabis ban as he prepares for the 2024 Paris Olympics. The weed-loving rapper insists he’ll be fine while covering the game for NBC.
When a Time interviewer mentioned that marijuana is illegal in France, Snoop said: “Believe me, I’m a very legal person.”
NBC hired Snoop for primetime coverage of the 2024 Olympics. The hip-hop legend claims he’s willing to undergo drug testing like an Olympian while in France.
“I plan to go there and do NBC Olympics work,” he said. “Clean as a book, clean as an athlete. They can test me if they want. I’m going to be out there doing what I’m supposed to do to make sure I bring home the gold medal. Which is me.”

Snoop was asked if he thought marijuana was a performance-enhancing drug since Olympians are prohibited from using it. He scoffed at the idea, pointing to marijuana’s impact on his 200-meter run at the 2024 Olympic trials.
“I just ran 34.44 in the 200 meters, and I’d been smoking all night,” he said. “So this has nothing to do with helping my time. If anything, my time is up. Unless they have some super s### to make you faster. Let me know where it is and I’ll be the first try.
Snoop will be covering a variety of sports during the 2024 Olympics, but he has a strong interest in basketball. The dog father told Time he “wants to move forward with USA Basketball” and praised Canadian star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
“I think he’s the Snoop Dogg of basketball,” Snoop said of SGA. “I like the way he plays and the style he plays. Every time he goes on the court, he stays focused and gets better. I like his game. I respect it.
The 2024 Olympics will open in July. Snoop will serve as a primetime special correspondent for NBC Paris.
