Snoop Dogg’s attitude toward same-sex couples has changed after his comments about same-sex couples sparked controversy this summer.
On Wednesday (October 16), Snoop teamed up with the Gay and Lesbian Anti-Defamation League to host Spirit Day, an annual initiative to support LGBTQ youth. In an interview shared on YouTube, Uncle Snoop spoke with “The Voice” contestant Jeremy Beloate, in which the rap icon discussed a new song called “Love is Love,” which appears on a new episode of Snoop’s animated children’s series Doggyland on YouTube.
“It’s teaching how to be a parent,” Snoop said. “It’s teaching in a beautiful way through song, through dance, through melody, what the kids in the world are going through right now, just to have a clearer understanding of how we live and how we live.”
“I feel like this music is a beautiful bridge to understanding,” he adds. “This is a project we’ve been doing for years to engage kids. Kids have questions about these things, so now hopefully we can help answer those questions and help them live happy lives and understand that love is love.”
Snoop’s new alliance with the LGBTQ community comes after he faced backlash for criticizing a scene in the 2022 film “Lightyear” in which a lesbian couple kiss and raise a child in August. The rapper commented on the It’s Giving podcast that the scene “screwed him up” and left him “scared to go to the movies with his grandkids.”
