Skrilla had everyone screaming “6-7.” His 2025 single “Doot Doot (6 7)” spawned one of the biggest pop trends of the year, one that even he didn’t see coming. Currently in the middle of his Z Tour, Skrilla has shared the internet-breaking verse with XXL, a YoungBoy Never Broke Again co-sign, new music and more.
The 26-year-old rapper from Philadelphia’s Kensington section has made a name for himself over the past few years with his dark-diamond raps on projects like 2024’s Underworld and 2024’s Zombie Love Kengsington Paradise, which chronicled the grim environment of his hometown. He officially released the single “Doot Doot (6 7)” last February after first leaking it last year. Scrilla casually punctuated his verses with the numbers “6-7.”
Blurting out ambiguous numbers in a variety of situations has become a phenomenon thanks to viral videos from high school basketball player Taylen Kenney and a YouTuber known as the “6 7 Kid.”
“6-7 went from a negative thing to a positive thing,” Skrilla told XXL. “[It’s] A million other things for other people. Each one has its own meaning. “
The 6-7 craze has reached new heights recently. In October, South Park dedicated an episode to mocking the trend. That same month, NBA YoungBoy launched Skrilla on his MASA tour in the City of Brotherly Love. “He’s a good guy, but not what I expected from listening to his music,” Scrilla said of YoungBoy. “He gave me a lot of advice.”
In another “not on the 2025 bingo card” moment, Skrilla also performed “Doot Doot (6 7)” on stage with British singer Natasha Bedingfield during her tour in Philadelphia in October.
Check out Skrilla’s exclusive interview with XXL where he talks 6-7 Boom, touring, his hometown, his upcoming album and more.
