Silento vowed to continue making music and focus on personal growth after he was sentenced to 30 years in prison for his 2021 cousin’s shooting death in Georgia.
The rapper, Ricky Lamar Hawk, was sentenced on Tuesday (June 11) to DeKalb County Superior Court Judge Courtney Johnson on Tuesday (June 11) but was convicted of voluntary manslaughter and several related charges.
The plea agreement includes aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during felony and covering up death.
The 27-year-old admitted to killing Frederick Rooks III, 34, outside a house in Decatur in January 2021.
After the sentencing, Silento’s public relations officer Chanel Hudson issued a statement on his behalf, thanking those who stood by him during the legal torture.
In his personal information shared through Hudson, Silento talks about his future.
“I will continue to make music and work to be the best version of myself,” he wrote. “I can’t reverse time, but I can get myself legally served time and work hard to contribute positively to my new environment.”
Silento continued: “I entered the industry as a teenager and usually had no proper guidance or direction. While this is not an excuse, it is part of my truth. I pray to grow, evolve and find the power of forgiveness for myself and for the whole situation. God bless you.”
Hudson added that the claim is a step towards “a step towards “recovery and much-needed lockdown for everyone affected.” She asked to continue praying, especially for Silento, who “fights severe mental health challenges.”

Court records show Silento has a recorded history of psychiatry and has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder.
His legal team will lead to unstable behavior leading to the shooting as part of their defense. The court accepted his guilty plea on condition that he received mental health treatment while incarcerated.
