Sean Kingston was ordered to detain on April 10 after a judge ruled that his legal team failed to deliver a key portion of his bond ($100,000 in cash) to launch his attempt to continue arresting the house before sentence.
The 34-year-old singer’s legal name is Kisean Paul Anderson, who appears in U.S. District Court Judge David S. Lebovitz.
Despite efforts to obtain funds through family members, the cash portion of the bond remains unpaid.
Kingston was convicted of federal telegraph fraud on March 28 and was previously allowed to stay at home under electronic surveillance.
The arrangement depends on the tiered bond agreement: $200,000 in cash bonds, $500,000 in personal margin and other compliance conditions supported by real estate.
Allhiphop broke the news: The structure began to collapse after the initial guarantor Marlene Turner was seen as a deficit. She was replaced by Rick Appling, who owns three properties without lien.
His affidavit was accepted by the court and there was no objection by the prosecutor. Still, the lost $100,000 in cash proved deadly to the deal.
Therefore, Judge Leibovitz ordered Kingston to detain the U.S. Marshal’s service.
The verdict in Kingston is scheduled to be held on July 11, 2025. His mother, Janice Turner, was also held after her conviction in the same fraud case.
Prosecutors alleged that the pair had planned a plan involving fake wire transfers to obtain more than $1 million in luxury goods, including high-end cars, jewelry and electronics.
Each charge of wire fraud is sentenced to up to 20 years in prison. Kingston will continue to be in federal custody until the date of sentencing this summer.
