My Type hitmaker Saweetie apparently struggled financially before she became a star. The entertainer, who grew up in Sacramento, recently talked about her life before fame, when she didn’t have a home of her own.
“I remember being too proud to tell my friends and family that I had nowhere to live and that I was literally couch surfing,” Saweetie recalled on Power 106’s Brown Bag Mornings, holding back tears.
She continued, “But it’s cool because people always want me around. So I don’t have to worry about having a place to live. My daughter knows what’s going on. But I never want to take up space in someone else’s home, so I just The wardrobe is in the car.
Saweetie released her High Maintenance EP in March 2018 via Warner Records. The project hosted the Californian band’s breakout single “Icy Grl,” which was eventually certified 2x platinum.
A new track titled “NANi” arrives on DSP on May 17, 2024.
The 30-year-old rapper recently accused Warner Records of not releasing “NANi” sooner. She also claims the label blocked the release of her song “Icy Girl, Icy World.”
