Roddy Ricch burst onto the scene in the late 2010s. The rapper scored a No. 1 single with “The Box,” but has struggled to maintain that high standard. His second album, Live Life Fast, failed to make any waves, and he hadn’t appeared on a notable single in years. However, Roddy Ricch is planning a comeback. The rapper confirmed that his new album, Navy Album, will be released soon. He promised it would keep West Coast’s winning streak going into 2024.
It’s clear that Roddy Ricch was building hype for “Navy Album” by referencing another West Coast artist. Tyler, the Creator took over the music world after dropping CHROMAKOPIA on Monday. Richie professed his love to Taylor while claiming to be the next artist. “Color blindness,” he wrote. “Tyler, the Creator. West, it’s my turn!” Hours later, Roddy Ricch confirmed that the navy version would be available this December. “Navy album,” he tweeted. “December 6th.” The rapper has been hinting that the album will be released throughout much of 2024.
Roddy Ricch also showed love to creator Tyler
“I feel like I’m just going back to my roots of taking my time, and injections are really lethal,” Rich said. “Just trying to give it everything I’ve got and be as vulnerable as possible to my fans and let them into my life.” Roddy Ricch compared Navy Album to a movie soundtrack and promised it would It’s an experience that his audience can apply to their own lives. “I just keep creating,” he said. “It’s just my safe haven, a way to express myself and stay fresh.”
Roddy Ricch has more in common with Tyler, the Creator than his West Coast roots. Both took to the stage during the legendary “Pop Out” show on Juneteenth. They performed some of their greatest songs and showed their support for Kendrick Lamar during the Drake battle. Richie is modest as a performer compared to the likes of Taylor and Kendrick, but he insists his music connects with fans on an emotional level. “I try to give up everything every time,” he asserts. “Even in moments of great hype, I try to give my all.” We can’t wait to hear about the results on December 6th.
