After the release of Rod Wave’s new album, Last Lap , many fans have questions about the themes of his songs and how they relate to his real life…just don’t assume too much about it. Chris Sails, a well-known YouTube blogger, claimed on social media that Wave and the mother of his child are currently going through a rough time and he learned of this. Sayles then questioned why the rapper and singer has been writing sad songs, presumably about the subject, since he allegedly has a new girlfriend. However, the YouTuber has not confirmed any of this, so these ultimately remain just gossips on social media.
Regardless, Rod Poff eventually heard about it, and he was understandably upset. “Yeah Chris, when we caught up to you we beat you so damn much,” he tweeted. “Lol jk,” the “25” artist followed. Shortly after, Chris Sails returned to TikTok to react to the tweets and apologized to Wave for his assumptions and gossip. He even started singing one of his songs to show that he was a big fan and there was no harm in his speculation.
Rod Wave vs. Chris Sails
Elsewhere, Rod Poff has addressed another social media narrative that appears to be spreading at his expense. Gloria accused him of dropping an album on the same day as hers. “Why DF are you giving up on my day, I’m exhausted,” she wrote in the comments section of Wave’s Instagram after the aforementioned final lap announcement. While it seemed like a joke, with Glo backing up the theory on his social media pages, some interpreted it as legitimate frustration.
Still, whether that’s a moot point or an easy one, Rod Wave outsold GloRilla, so maybe she’s right to be a little disappointed. However, numbers do not determine artistic greatness. Fans love the two new albums for very different reasons, and their crossover audience can get a kick out of both albums. We’ll see if Chris Sayles continues to be a fan after this.
