While Rihanna’s name has always been relevant, it’s been more than eight years since her last album, Anti. Her longest gap between records before this was about four years, so even though all her careers were outside of music, Navy’s wait was a tough one.
Today, Rihanna attended the Fenty Hair launch in Los Angeles, and it looks like this could be another huge success for her. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight at the event, she talked about some new music and offered up some ideas that will excite some fans and exhaust others.
Rihanna said music was a process of rediscovery for her and she worked on the album for so long that she put a lot of things aside. “Now I’m ready to get back into the studio,” she says, and in a sense, she’ll now be starting over with R9.
She did say she didn’t want to ignore the music she’d recorded over the years. “I really want to go back and like, listen to things with new ears, new perspectives, and see what works and what I’m still passionate about.”
Check out the clip below. As a fan who wants new music from Rih, do you think this is good news or bad news? If she was sincere, we would probably be a few years away from starting an album promotion. But who can blame her?
