More details have emerged about the tragic death of Rich Homie Quan.
This week, the Atlanta Police Department released an incident report into the rapper’s death, which included statements from Quan’s brother and girlfriend, who were the last people to see him alive.
The report, obtained by 11Alive, states that the “Lifestyle” hitmaker was originally discovered by his brother, Andre Munford, in his Atlanta home in the early morning hours of September 5, “sleeping on the floor next to the kitchen. on, with food in his mouth.”
Mumford told police he then lifted Richie Homey to the couch, calling the situation “very unusual.”
A few hours later, Quan’s girlfriend, Amber Williams, woke up and found him lying on the couch. Then she left home to take her children to school.
When he returned, Williams said Quan had not moved from the sofa. Assuming he was still sleeping, she went back to the upstairs bedroom to continue sleeping, the report said.
After waking up, Williams said she checked on him at 11 a.m., when she noticed his body was cold and he didn’t appear to be breathing. She reportedly called 911 immediately.
The responding officer said Rich Homie Quan did not appear to be “alert, conscious or breathing” when he arrived at the property and he did not suspect foul play.
Quan, 34, was taken to Grady Hospital near Atlanta, where he was pronounced dead.
The cause of death has not been released. An autopsy was performed on the rapper last week, but the results will not be released until further testing is completed.
Williams later took to social media to express her sadness and grief over Rich Homie Quan’s death, writing: “The pain is unbearable. The love you have shown is overflowing. I am truly grateful to everyone who has reached out. Man. I was traumatized by that moment and it will stay in my mind forever.
She added: “I have nothing to prove because my love for my significant other has always been shown and I have nothing to hide. Please respect me and my family at this moment. Our house is no longer A home. I am completely heartbroken.
“It’s been 15 years. I will never be the same. This was a complete nightmare. We can never let go, but you don’t have to leave me like this. #numbsense.”
The rapper’s father, Corey Lamar, also released a statement, which read: “The pain is unbearable. Lord, please help me understand this. Losing my son, my first child, My best friend. Lord, please make this a dream… Please pray for me and my family. I feel like I am being crushed into a million pieces.
Rich Homie Quan’s friends and collaborators have also paid tribute to him, especially those who were the shining stars of Atlanta’s hip-hop scene in the early to mid-2010s, including Playboi Carti, Metro Boomin, Quavo, 2 Chainz and DJ Drama.
