Rami Youssef delivered a politically charged monologue on Saturday Night Live this weekend calling for Palestinian freedom and the release of hostages. In doing so, he recalled a conversation with his friend Ahmed, who asked him to pray for the family in Gaza.
“I said, ‘Man, I got you,'” Yusuf said. “So that night, I went to pray, and my prayer was complicated. I had a lot to adjust to. I thought, ‘God, please help Ahmed’s family. Please stop the pain. Stop the violence. Please free the Palestinian people. Please release the hostages, all the hostages. And when you do, you know, release Mr. Bojangles. He’s a beautiful dog. I’m praying for that dog.” He also discussed the upcoming election , admitting he “didn’t like either option.” In turn, he wants the next president to be a woman. “I really think our next president should be a woman,” Yusuf said. “You know what I mean? Like, that would be great. I think our next president should be a trans woman.”

Let’s not be part of more wars.” Check out Yusef’s full monologue from “Saturday Night Live” below.
