“After being baptized in the joyful river in the heart of Africa in this powerful unit, I got to know them, I got to know us, and more importantly, I got to know and rediscover myself in the process. I am happy to be a part of preserving their knowledge of souls, A positive but very vulnerable true story of self and struggle,” Quist said.
Meanwhile, the ever-busy Questlove is putting the finishing touches on his first Roots album in years, and he credits Common and Pete Rock’s latest project with giving the Illadelph team the inspiration to complete the long-gestating LP.
Interviewing the duo on his Questlove Supreme podcast, Quest explained Common and Pete’s joint album The Auditorium Vol. 1 has given support to him and Black Thought when it comes to The Roots’ long-awaited 15th LP .

“Not to be outdone, my band has been sitting on the sidelines watching this happen, and you know, it’s made us… I would say it’s made Tariq [Black Thought] Enter – this motherfucker wrote seven songs in one day! We haven’t done that since our second album.
In this episode, Questlove elaborates on the influence of Common and Pete Rock albums on Black Thought.
“[I walked into the room] Like, ‘Yo, my God. You won’t believe this, but Rush [Common] Pete set a perfect summit record. No one shines brighter than another. everything [equal].’I was thinking about it, and I could say a seed was planted,” he said.
“But then — and I think after we performed at the Hollywood Bowl — I think that ignited something under Tariq. I mean, I can say over the past two weeks, his performance It’s down at least eighty percent.
“I mean, coming back, it’s like, you want more?!?!?! In a few days, ‘Riq would write six or seven songs in one scene. This album is definitely — that’s probably the album he’s working on as I speak. It’s inspiring.
